Jesus’ Great Campaign of Sabotage: MIT Revival

It’s easy to forget why we’re here. When life sucks us in to the worries and stress and pain and hopelessness that surrounds us everyday, our purpose disappears. It’s no longer about living – it’s about surviving. The Life that Jesus made real for us sits on the shelf, and the life that the world demands of us becomes first priority. We become complacent, passive-aggressive, and we lose the conviction and fire that moved our hearts to God in the first place. But God never gives up on us, and when His call comes so clearly through the voice of a dear friend and sister, you can’t do anything but wake up.

It’s a movement that’s sweeping the campus, a wave that is building. For over a year, several of us have felt the Spirit moving in some way, that individuals were being prepared for something amazing; the moment for it has finally arrived. The Spirit of God spoke to each and every one of us and said, “This is it. I have called you to this.” Such excitement tore through, but perhaps it’s not just for MIT. Perhaps it’s also for where you are, and I pray that if it is, that you’ll join this wave. For the glory of God, and the good of all people.

Brothers and Sisters,

This is urgent.
I am writing to you because you are people I consider family. People that I trust with my spiritual health and I hope know that can trust me with theirs (yours). People who I see as fellow soldiers in God’s kingdom.

Spiritual Recognition. We are in an intense, VERY REAL spiritual battle. RIGHT NOW. YOU, ME, MIT, USA, THE WORLD, etc. I have seen far too many of my brothers and sisters in Christ attacked and/or taken out and it’s quite frankly pissing me off (some of you have heard me rant about this already and God has been teaching me resilience in prayer even when things look futile). I’m feeling it and I know many of you have too. As a result, I felt really compelled to write this to you all, as these are lessons I’ve been learning and am working on.

Fervent Prayer. I recently realized that if I actually believe everything Jesus says like I say I do, my spiritual life would NOT look like what it does right now — passive. I should be proactively praying, reading, sharing, speaking truth, loving, meeting, praying, praying, praying. And not just praying, but praying EXPECTANTLY, trusting God is ALL POWERFUL and that prayer unleashes His will on the earth (Heb 11).

Idk about y’all, but the Jesus story quoted below is freaky to imagine, like being in church when a demon screams and then the pastor exorcises the demon as the man he’s in convulses and screams? Freaky. But this is an example of God’s ULTIMATE, SUPERNATURAL power and indisputable authority over the enemy. He has already won. Jesus defeated death. But He asks us to be His soldiers, to be fighting vigilantly for him.
Mark 1:21-28 — And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and was teaching. And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes. And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him. And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.” And at once his fame spread everywhere throughout all the surrounding region of Galilee.

UNITY. The preacher in Hebrews warns against being “sluggish and dull of hearing”(ch.7) and relates neglecting to meet together(10:25) being closely related to walking away from God (post having the Holy Spirit move in one’s heart — see Heb. 6:4-6). The passage is quoted below. Jesus also says in Matthew 18 that he is with us when 2 or 3 of us are gathered. (But isn’t He omnipresent all the time? My pastor believes Jesus means that the fullness of God’s presence is to be experienced corporately.) C.S. Lewis says, “Enemy-occupied territory–that’s what this world is. Christianity is the story of how the rightful king has landed, you might say landed in disguise, and is calling us all to take part in a great campaign of sabotage. When you go to church you are really listening-in to the secret wireless from our friends: that is why the enemy is so anxious to prevent us from going. He does it by playing on our conceit and laziness and intellectual snobbery.”

Hebrews 10:23-31 — “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

Be encouraged. The first part of the quoted Hebrews passage above tells us to hold unwaveringly to the hope we have in Christ! 🙂 What’s the worst that can happen to us in this spiritual battle? Death? Jesus beat that ol’ thing! So let’s keep asking the Holy Spirit to direct our ways and not trying to make God fit into our original plans, even when it’s hard or out of our box, b/c we know that God’s priorities are what we hope in, even if it seems backward or stupid by the world’s (MIT’s) standards.

What’s the point? All this is to say, let’s make a united effort to be fighting this battle. Each of you guys has a special conviction from God, and special gifts to offer to the Kingdom movement and yet we are not all reaching the full potential as we could united. The enemy and our sinful nature do NOT want us to care and do so easily through the choices we make with our time. Logistics and how things look should be discussed but ideas that pop to mind right now are:

Informal meetings (OFTEN) of all people who love Jesus (regardless of fellowship) together to pray and read His word with this urgency that is the coming of the Kingdom and pushing back all the forces that are against us. Would you be interested?

Let’s be a community in which members can rely on and learn from each other. Like we should be at the level where if I need prayer, I know who the prayer warriors/intercessors are and feel comfortable calling them to help a sistah out, if I need more knowledge of truth, I know who is learned, etc. We don’t need to see every person every day or even know every person super well, but we should have the security and confidence that we can.

Please be praying for such a community and that the passion to fight this battle will spread like wildfire  because this will only happen by God’s supernatural power. Even as I speak I know many of you are skeptical of anything of this sort actually being realized, and I’d like to encourage you by asking: Who’s keeping your heart beating this very moment; and keeping the atmosphere from disintegrating? Who knows what our God’s capable of? Like Moses and David and other spiritual greats of the OT, they served the Kingdom without seeing Jesus come to pass, out of obedience and faith, let’s work because of our joy in the restoration we already have in relationship with God. THE REBELLION (against the prince of the power of the air -Eph.2) IS HAPPENING ITS LIKE HUNGER GAMES OMAGAH.
Who’s in? 😀
Let me know your interest and let’s start brainstorming for how this will look immediately and in the near future.

I love you all!

P.S. This quote again: “Enemy-occupied territory–that’s what this world is. Christianity is the story of how the rightful king has landed, you might say landed in disguise, and is calling us all to take part in a great campaign of sabotage. When you go to church you are really listening-in to the secret wireless from our friends: that is why the enemy is so anxious to prevent us from going. He does it by playing on our conceit and laziness and intellectual snobbery.” -C.S. Lewis
